Arjowiggins, Bostock&Pollitt: idea

Idea:

I looked at some of the shapes of climbing frames and how they we're put together and drew up a concept of every branch being attached like the metal poles on a climbing frame. i feel the idea isn't as strong as i first thought i think i want to make more of a climbing frame in the shape of a tree and join it all from the number one. possibly from this i could incorporate some text into the design in the main tree part of the design.

Arjowiggins Graphic and Bostock and Pollitt research

For this brief i want to pin down an idea. The concept and idea derives from my One chosen memory of tree's, which is climbing them a lot. therefore i will need to create an image that is creative fun and represent this concept of a climbing frame. I will research into the shapes and structure of climbing frames, other playground structures....slides, swings etc. I need to decide the style i would like to produce the work in as i am very interested in type and image and hand generated type and the calibration with other imagery.

Arjowiggins Graphic and Bostock and Pollitt - Design Submission

B&W Copy

Colour Copy

I think that these designs are very poor and really don't represent what i am about as a designer and my ability as a designer so i am going back a step to realise what i wanted to produce and research more into the design and how the symbol ' 1' is present as part of the image rather than ignored as i have done in these designs.

Don't panic: resistance defined

Resistance:
  • the action of opposing something that you disapprove or disagree with; "he encountered a general feeling of resistance from many citizens ...
  • any mechanical force that tends to retard or oppose motion
  • electric resistance: a material's opposition to the flow of electric current; measured in ohms
  • the military action of resisting the enemy's advance; "the enemy offered little resistance"
  • immunity: (medicine) the condition in which an organism can resist disease
  • the capacity of an organism to defend itself against harmful environmental agents; "these trees are widely planted because of their resistance to salt and smog"
  • underground: a secret group organized to overthrow a government or occupation force
  • the degree of unresponsiveness of a disease-causing microorganism to antibiotics or other drugs (as in penicillin-resistant bacteria)
  • (psychiatry) an unwillingness to bring repressed feelings into conscious awareness
  • group action in opposition to those in power
(wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn)
I need to clarify the definition i want to interprite in my design, wether it is a physical action, scientific ect or is it a collaboration of them all to define the word.??? i need to decide this.

Headline brief

I need to find a selection of headlines for this brief, I would like to create a range of 6-8 posters with one of them selected to submit to this brief itself.

Arjowiggins Graphic and Bostock and Pollitt brief

This is just a quick brief i used to give me a warm up/ start to my design practice this year. the brief requirements are very specific e.g. confined layout...has to have number one but the number one can't be moved from the location on the layout given.

i think that the set area to work in is very tight but it is possible to create something very interesting this will help me be more focused and hopefully define what i want and need to do quickly and so i can learn how to pin down what i want to do quicker and more effectively.
